EVN, September 4 – Government forces initiated a military operation, supported by drones, in the Tere region of Northern Shewa. According to EVN sources, the operation took place on Saturday, September 2, in an area referred to as Samu Jabir, near the Wokfele River, with the primary objective of targeting the presence of Fano’s People’s Power.

Eyewitnesses on the ground reported significant casualties among army personnel as a result of the combat in the rugged terrain, where government forces aimed to secure control. Soldiers who lost their lives in the battle were en route to Shewa Robit.

It is alleged that during the military’s advance to secure the hill, individuals in military attire, including agricultural workers, were observed, potentially providing guidance. Following substantial losses, the army withdrew in the evening, with troops spending the night in Shewa Robit. This development reportedly led to dissatisfaction among army leadership, resulting in the detention of government officials in Shewarobit.

EVN sources have confirmed the apprehension of local officials, including the city’s mayor, Tesfaye Mengstu, the administrator Shemelisht Chrotau, the speaker Abush Abebe, the head of education Shemelus Hasan, as well as rural and urban security officials in Shewarobit.

Additionally, there were reports of files, originally documented during the northern conflict with the TPLF, being utilized to identify and target Amhara individuals who had joined the ranks of the Fano fighters. These individuals were believed to have been taken to Asarbet.

In related news, it has been disclosed that a fierce battle occurred in Majete, resulting in the reported massacre of over 31 civilians by government forces as they faced setbacks in the battles.
