Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz welcomed Djiboutian Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed at the government headquarters in Havana today. Mohamed’s visit to Cuba comes in the lead-up to the Group of 77 and China Summit scheduled for this Friday and Saturday.
During the official talks, high-level representatives from both countries discussed collaboration and diplomatic relations. Notably present at the meeting were Josefina Vidal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Carlos Miguel Pereira, General Director of Bilateral Affairs from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Cuba and Djibouti are poised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations this November. Over the years, both nations have nurtured and expanded their cooperation in various fields, particularly in healthcare. More recently, they have ventured into education through the Framework Agreement on Cooperation and Technical Assistance in education and professional training.

Somali Parliament Member and City Councilor Killed in Explosion
An explosion in central Somalia claimed the lives of two prominent figures on Monday morning. MP Mohamed Mohamud (Mohamed Yare), a member of the Galmudug Parliament, and Abdullahi Ibrahim, a Dhusamareb city councilor, fell victim to an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the El-garas area of Galgaduud region.
The incident occurred during an SNA military operation against the militant group Al-Shabaab. The MPs were on a mission to visit troops liberating their constituency near Elbur, which had been under Al-Shabaab control for an extended period.
The tragic deaths have deeply saddened the people of Galmudug state, prompting heartfelt condolences from leaders. The government and local clan forces are intensifying efforts to secure the city, forcing Al-Shabaab fighters to flee their bases.
Notably, the Minister of Defense, Galmudug state leader Ahmed Qoor-Qoor, and NISA boss Mahad Salad visited El Garas to commemorate the significant victory against Al-Shabaab.
Sudan’s President Visits Eritrea for Official Discussions
General Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in Sudan, embarked on an official visit to Asmara, Eritrea. During his trip, President al-Burhan will engage in discussions with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki to deliberate on bilateral relations and means of strengthening ties, as well as matters of mutual interest.
Accompanying President al-Burhan on this visit are Ali Al-Sadiq, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director of General Intelligence Service.
